Lacey is located at the south end of the Puget Sound and is located in along the I-5 corridor in Thurston County. It is approximately 11 miles from Joint Base Lewis-McChord; making it about a 15 minute commute.
About Lacey, Washington
Historically, Lacey was first settled in the late 1800’s and featured a nationally known horse track and railroad station. Lacey has grown since that time to a very diverse population that includes a large military community. The City of Lacey works hard to maintain an image of being a very clean city with well-maintained parks and lakes as well as golf courses. The establishment of a new Regional Athletic Center, which is boasted to be the best in the state, offers a wide variety of outdoor activities from hiking, biking, baseball, rugby and soccer. The Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge is located a few miles north of Lacey.
Lacey is located in North Thurston School District. This district prides itself with offering a great education to their students. North Thurston is the only school in the South Sound that offers K-12 Deaf Education. Lacey offers a number of private schools available to those who do not wish to have a public education. Lacey is also home to St. Martin’s University, a private Catholic university, offering four years and above degrees in liberal arts, engineering, and business. Lacey is a great place to live and to do business!
Lacey is located south of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, by approximately 10-12 minutes once you exit the base and are on Interstate 5. If you choose to reside in Lacey their are several housing options. The city itself is a hop, skip & jump away from the Puget Sound inlets. For all you lake lovers, Lacey has the a beautiful lake named “Long Lake” where you can jet ski & swim! For all you golf lovers, their are ample golf courses around as well. The heart of Lacey is near the large grocery store called “Fred Meyer“, where you can find just about anything, from wrenches to dog food and a gallon of milk! Lacey has a walking, running and biking trails called the chehalis western trail that can be accessed from a number of locations around town. Living in Lacey is one of your top options!
