Kent is located in the south end of King County, Washington along the Green River.  It is the sixth largest city in the state with a population of 126,950.

Kent is a lively, vibrant, culturally diverse 34 mile square city with views of the Mount Rainier, the Cascades and the Olympics mountains.   Kent is located right between Seattle and Tacoma offering easy access to both these cities. Kent is approximately 35 miles (45 minute commute) from Joint Base Lewis-McChord along either the I-5 corridor or WA 165 N.

If it is retail you are interested in, then it is hard to beat Kent with its array of great shopping centers including: Kent Station, Historic Downtown Kent and close proximity to South Center Shopping Mall.  The restaurants in Kent are superb and offer both casual and fine dining experiences.

The City of Kent keeps an activity year round event calendar filled with fun activities for all.  In the summer, there is a Farmers Market located downtown and the Kent International Festival to enjoy in June.  Kent has a number of award winning parks and recreational centers with classes and activities (both indoor/outdoor) to meet the needs of children through senior adults.

The park system in Kent is extensive (60 parks) and includes athletic complexes, community parks and neighborhood parks with wonderful trails for hiking, jogging and biking.  There are a number of specialty parks for activities such as: skating, basketball, off-leash parks for dogs and historic sites including the Neely-Soames Historic Home, Saar Pioneer Cemetery, Emil W Bereiter House and the Mill Creek Canyon Earthworks. Riverbend Golf Course is an 18 hole championship course.  There is also 9 Hole, 3 Par golf course, miniature golf, and a driving range.

The Kent School District is located at 12035 S E 256th Street, Kent, WA  98030.  Tel:  (253) 373-7000.  It consists of 28 elementary schools, six middle schools, four high schools and five academy schools.  It is the sixth largest school district in the state covering 76 miles.  School enrollment is approximately 28,000 students.  The mission statement of the district is, “In partnership with the community, we strive to promote relationships and learning opportunities which foster scholarship, leadership, creativity and individuality.”   This mission statement is very reflective of how much the school and the business community work together.

Microsoft has named this district as an International Technology Best Practices Visitation Site.  This has allowed Kent-Meridian High School to be visited by various dignitaries from around the world learn about cutting-edge technology.  The Kent School District is very proud of the two schools who earned the prestigious Washington Achievement Award for helping to advance students learning.
