Frequently Asked Questions

Where is traffic especially bad when commuting in and around of JBLM?

When commuting in and out of JBLM Gates it hardest to try to take I-5. Traffic around base is extremely heavy mostly during the working week. Typical, Washington drivers are exceedingly good behind the wheel and follow speed limits especially on 1-5. To help reduce time on the road, try to learn the back roads, side streets and little tricks from fellow soldiers. Like for instance, if you currently live off base you could access JBLM through the East Gate where you don’t need to access I-5 at all to grant access to the post.  The best advice is to give yourself some extra time just in case you hit more traffic than expected and know when planning a trip on or off base expect to take at least half an hour or more to get to your destination.
