South Hill is one of the fastest growing cities in the Puget Sound with approximately 52,400 residents as of the 2010 census.  Many of these residents work at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

South Hill is an approximately 30 minute drive (19 miles) to Joint Base Lewis-McChord.   It offers affordable housing mixed with a great quality of life. The City spans approximately 18 miles.  The median housing price is approximately $189,500.  The median income for a household in South Hill according to the CDP for a family was $64,544. South Hill is known for retail shopping at South Hill Mall.

Residents also enjoy spending hours down at the Bradley Lake Park.  The Bradley Lake Park consists of 59-acres park site, including a 12-acre lake.  The cities of Puyallup, Tacoma, Graham as well as other numerous cities are located nearby and offer a variety of activities and adventures.  Individuals and families can find summer concerts at some parks, many arts and antique stores, a great farmers market, the Daffodil Festival and numerous city activities throughout the year.  It is also close to other great excursions such as the LeMay Car Museum, the Glass Works Museum, Tacoma Point Defiance Park and Zoo to mention just a few.

“Do The Puyallup” means attending the Puyallup Fair, which is to the ninth largest fair in the world, and takes place in the month of September.   It is filled with fun activities, adventurous carnival rides, music venues, arts and crafts exhibits, great food, and much more.  The fair grounds are open twice a year.

Northwest Trek is a great wildlife adventure park where one can get up close and personal with some of the various animals living in the park.  Northwest Trek offers great photography moments, exploration and camping experiences to its visitors.

South Hill is part of a chain of cities that claim to be the gateway to Mount Rainier.  Mount Rainier National Park is filled with where you can find many wonderful family activities from snowshoeing and skiing in the winter to hiking, camping and swimming in the summer.

South Hill is part of the Puyallup School District.  This district is the ninth largest school district in Washington State.  It serves approximately 120,000 residents.  There are 21 elementary schools, seven junior high schools, three high schools, and an alternative school.  The Puyallup School District strives for academic excellence and excels in athletics.  Continuing education can be found at the following colleges and universities: Pacific Lutheran University (Parkland), University of Washington, St. Martin’s University, Tacoma School of the Arts, Clover Park Technical College, Pierce College Fort Steilacoom, Pierce College in Puyallup, Covenant Bible Seminary, and college classes at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
