Lakewood’s park system includes six city parks and six neighborhood parks.  Lakewood offers easy access many great attractions such as the Fort Steilacoom Golf Course, Meadow Park Golf Course, Grand Prix Raceway, Lakewood Gardens, Fort Lewis Military Museum, Lakewood Game Refuge, Lakewood Veterans Memorial, Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium and much more. Lakewood has a population of approximately 58,000, including many military.  Lakewood is located on the eastern border of Joint Base Lewis-McChord.  It is a hop, skip and jump commute to the Base which is about a 16 minute drive (7 1/2 miles).  Many of Lakewood’s residents are employed on Lewis-McChord (which is the third largest employer in Washington State). The public school system is operated under the Clover Park School District(CPSD).  The CPSD is comprised of 17 elementary schools, four middle schools and two high schools.  There is one alternative high school and two specialty schools.  There is also the Harrison Preparatory School, the only preparatory school, for grades 6th through 12th.
